More about LSQMA
Welcome to Texas racing, where kids come first!
We are proud to announce that 2009 marks the 50th year for Lone Star Quarter
Midget Association (LSQMA).
Though the track has changed the spirit of racing has not, this fifty year old
track continues to bring family and friends together season after season.
The kids of LSQMA race according to age category and engine type. Typically the
racers race 10-15 events (Feb-Nov) in conjunction with the Austin track and
accumulate points for club championships as well as regional championships. San
Antonio and Austin are the only two Texas cities with tracks so many families
drive from as far away as Dallas, Houston, and Port Lavaca on a regular basis in
order to compete.
Even though the kids are fierce competitors on the track they put away their
feelings with their race gloves as soon as they climb out of their cars. These
kids are all great friends and look forward to the weekend so they can hang out
with each other and share their love of racing. The environment is family
oriented and it isnʼt unusual to see all family members working in some capacity
to get the cars ready to race on Saturday mornings.
These youngsters race in full safety gear that has to be sanctioned by the
Quarter Midgets of America Club. The kids wear full face helmets, as well as
fire resistant race suits and gloves. In addition, they have arm and neck
restraints, and other safety harnesses on the car.
Quarter Midget Racing is a nationally recognizes sport. Yes, drivers can start
as early as 5 years old, and continue on until age 16. This sport is a great
alternative for those kids more interested in cars and speed.
Many Quarter Midget racers have gone onto race in Sprints, Legends and yes, even
NASCAR!
LSQMA has novice classes that must be attended before racing starts.
